Alvis Reid is a remarkable talented musician from Kingston Jamaica, who grew up in a family environment of culture, love and a passion for music. Alvis started playing the electric bass in high school and completed a Certificate in Jazz & Popular Music from Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts.
Alvis’ first band “Wide Grin Quartet”, performed at the “Air Jamaica Jazz & Blues Festival”, he also appeared with the “Dennis Rushton Trio” in “Smile Jamaica Christmas” on TVJ. He played for two seasons with the “Digicel Rising Stars House Band”, and toured the Caribbean and the USA.
While representing Jamaica on the “Marley Meets Mozart” Austrian tour, he sat an audition at the Vienna Music Institute and then later moved to Austria.
In Austria, Alvis’ musical ability along with his career blossomed. He joined “Erste Allgemeine Verunsicherung (EAV)”, one of Austria’s most successful pop bands, touring all over Austria, Germany and Switzerland and the reggae band “Millions of Dreads”.
At the moment he also plays with other local bands, such as “Kitanda Mangaio”, a collaboration of musicians from Brazil, Serbia and Jamaica, as he gears up for Summer Tours with “Erste Allgemeine Verunsicherung” and “Millions of Dreads”.
Alvis has recorded on many albums and singles, and plans to release his own debut album “Journey”.
